Practices!

At Tri-City, we recognize that summer nights are limited and many programs are offered only in the summer.  We do not want to limit the players to only one sport or summer activity. Because of that, we offer practices for the first 20 minutes of the scheduled time and the remainder of the scheduled time will be the game.

Here's how it works:

  • Each team will practice on game days immediately prior to their game.
  • Pre-K, K, or 1st Grade, due to practice times of 20 minutes, the game length for the youngest ages (Pre-K, K, and 1st Grade) is 25 minutes (please review the chart below) - still 45 minutes of activity.
  • 2nd to 8th grades will have 15 minutes of practice and 45 minutes of game time (please review the chart below)
  • This will be listed on your team page calendar as one time slot.
  • Practice and the game will be on the same field.
  • You will practice with your game opponent each week.
  • Both teams will practice on the same field, each team on one half of the field.
  • TC United will provide session plans to the Volunteer Coaches on the coaches page prior to the game day
  • Each team's volunteer coach will then guide their team through the practice session
  • Each team's volunteer coach will then coach the team for the game.

TEAM FORMATION

For Summer, teams are formed based on the information entered in their registration. Here is the order in which the information is used to form the team:

  1. Gender
  2. Grade (2023-2024 School Year)
  3. Friend Request
  4. School

FRIEND REQUESTS

  • ALTHOUGH WE UNDERSTAND THAT CHILDREN PREFER TO PLAY ON TEAMS WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND CLASSMATES, EACH PLAYER IS ONLY ALLOWED ONE FRIEND request. if more than one is listed, it will be discarted.

  • PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT FOR A FRIEND REQUEST TO TAKE EFFECT, BOTH KIDS MUST BE REGISTERED IN THE PROGRAM, on the same division and same gameday

  • friend requests must be mutual

  • Coaches request will not be accepted for summer

JERSEY

All participants in the Recreational program are required to wear a TC United reversible recreational jersey. If you don't already own this jersey or are in need of a bigger size for your player, you can pre-order one when registering and pick up on the first day of the season. You will also be able to purchase jerseys during the first two weeks of the season.

VOLUNTEER COACHES

The Recreational Program depends on volunteer coaches to help run practices, be at games and communicate with families. Please consider being a volunteer coach to your son's or daughter's team.  Anybody can make a great coach, regardless of your experience or knowledge of soccer.  Some volunteer coaches grew up playing the game, some have watched their children play and some have never played or coached before.  Whatever your experience level we are here to help you succeed as a recreational coach. We can provide equipment and lesson plans to assist with practices.
Volunteer coaches will receive a full refund* of the registration fee at the end of the season. If you are interested in volunteering to coach, please complete the registration below.

*50% refund if more than one coach.
*If more than one child plays on the same team, only one registration will be refunded.
